CHRISTMAS is a time for celebration – but it can also be especially lonely for those who have lost loved ones and live alone.
Cameo, an acronym for Come and Meet Each Other, is a voluntary group in Erdington which organises activities for such people during the winter and beyond.
The club, staffed by volunteers and funded by its 50-odd members, had hoped to plan a morale-boosting visit to The Garrick Theatre in Lichfield in December for the Peter Pan pantomime.
But the £1,000 needed for tickets and a coach was proving a stumbling block before the Community Chest sprinkled fairy dust over the group’s dreams and stumped up the cash.
Cameo treasurer Christine Fryer, aged 67, said: “That’s fabulous news.
