IT IS perhaps unlikely that diners will ever routinely say “I’m going for a Brazilian”.
There would be the danger, of course, that people might mistake such a comment as an unwarranted and unpleasantly evocative disclosure about the speaker’s personal grooming arrangements.
But more pertinently, it is unlikely to be uttered because Brazilian restaurants are so few and far between.
This place, that has just opened in premises once occupied by the Breakfast Club on Broad Street, is the only one I know of in the West Midlands. The owners have lavished money to create a light and airy space that is smart and functional.
The service, too, has been carefully honed so that it is efficient and friendly. And helpful.
Which is important because being a novice as far as all things Brazilian are concerned, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect and needed the guidance that was enthusiastically given. Actually, the format at Amazon turned out to be fairly straightforward.
You can choose to dine either solely from the buffet or from the buffet and grill, in which case a waiter brings a succession of meats and fish to your table.
When your carnivorous desires are fully sated, you simply turn over a disc on your table from its green to its red side to proclaim that you can manage not another ounce of fleshy protein.
My son Murray and I chose the buffet/grill option whilst my wife Lynn decided to stick to the buffet.
The selection at the buffet table was impressive – various salads, starchy things, a few cured meats, all fresh and well prepared. It was a good spread.
Thus we returned to our table impressed and the waiter began bringing over various grilled meats that arrived on giant skewers from which slices were carved or chunks were pulled off.
