Electric smart cars you plug into mains sockets

SMART has started deliveries of electrically-powered models as part of a trial programme.

The first of 100 electric smart fortwos will be used by Coventry City Council.

The car, which has zero emissions, has a range of 70 miles and can accelerate up to 30mph in less than seven seconds. They have their own charger on board, which can be plugged directly into any UK mains three pin socket.

The cars will be made available on a lease arrangement to selected UK corporate customers.
