The sexy new Megane
RENAULT is banking on the power of seduction to woo buyers to its sexy new Megane Coupe.
No longer is the French manufacturer shaking a tail feather with the coupe and its hatchback sibling, opting instead to go for a more streamlined posterior.
So it’s au revoir to the distinct rump that polarised opinion so starkly on previous generation models.
But whatever your take on design there’s no escaping the fact that Renault has a terrific Megane line-up to front its assault on sales this spring.
The range comprises three trim levels, Expression, Dynamique and Privilege, with six engines – three petrol, three diesels – and prices from £14,745.
The hatch, which costs from £13,995, is more conservatively styled yet a treat to drive.
Renault’s car line-up is extensive, ranging from the funky little Twingo through to full blown people carrier the Grand Espace.
And when it comes to safety the French manufacturer has more five-star rated models in its stable than any other, and also gets top marks for low running costs.
While the Clio supermini has been a flag-bearer for many years its larger Sport Tourer sibling has shown the versatility and value to forge a large audience of its own.
It boasts 50 per cent more boot space than the regular Clio yet is priced at just £850 more than the Clio five-door – meaning buyers can pick up an Expression 1.2-litre model with group two insurance rating for £11,098.
Even fresher to the market is the perfect solution for customers who like their hot hatch thrills with just a touch more refinement and extra comfort – a new version of the much-acclaimed Clio Renaultsport 197, the ‘Lux’.
This new Lux version comes with extra features such as leather upholstery and automatic climate control, worth £2,000 as individual options, yet at £16,995, Lux costs just £1,000 more than the standard version.
