DISGRACED TV presenter Ashley Blake was today jailed for two years after attacking a teenager with a wooden pole.
He was given a further six months for attempting to pervert the course of justice and this will run concurrently with the two years.
Earlier, the court heard how he was a ruined man whose career was now in tatters.
Judge Peter Carr told him: “Your career is over. You’ve got nobody to blame for that but yourself. I have read all the references, you are not of good character.
“You’ve left a young man with an injury leaving a permanent scar.”
Nigel Rumfitt QC told Birmingham Crown Court that Blake had been sacked by the BBC after being convicted of attacking a teenager with a wooden pole and lying to police.
The job “meant everything to him,” said Mr Rumfitt, who added: “It is a very severe punishment.”
Blake, 40, was sentenced for a brutal attack which left 17-year-old Greg Jones scarred for life.
As the former BBC presenter arrived at court today, he hugged his girlfriend Jessica Hayes and relatives goodbye.
The offence happened after violence broke out at the end of an 18th birthday bash at Blake’s former bar The Place 2B, in Chester Road, Sutton Coldfield, early on January 25.
Judge Peter Carr has previously warned Blake he is likely to jailed.
