Thousands dumped the pump

THE National Express Dump the Pump campaign aimed to get car users trialling the bus service for free.

More than 40,000 people across the West Midlands claimed their free Daysaver passes to travel on the network.

Director of National Express West Midlands Alex Perry says: "Dump the pump has been a hugely successful campaign resulting in thousands of car users leaving their vehicles at home in favour of the bus.

"With fuel costs rising it seems people are really feeling the pinch and we launched the campaign to encourage those considering alternative transport to leave the car at home and use the bus."

* National Express West Midlands operates the UK's largest urban bus network outside of London, and is the largest bus operator in the West Midlands. The service carries approximately one million passengers per working day across nearly 600 routes throughout the West Midlands region. See www.nationalexpress.com/em for more details.
