World 501 Dholis International Fundraiser
The King of Dhol, Gurcharan Mall, leads this spectacular attempt to break the world record for the number of Dhol drummers playing at a time and raise £10,000 for charity.

May 16 & 17
Middle Earth Weekend
Now in its tenth year. Plays, reading, walks, historical re-enactments, traditional crafts, children’s activities and much more in the place that inspired JRR Tolkien.
Tolkien and his brother spent many hours playing around Sarehole Mill. This and other local settings, such as Moseley Bog, provided inspiration for 'Hobbitton' and 'The Shire' in his books the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.

May 23 & 24
Birmingham Pride 2009
Crowds are expected to join in the fun and celebrations for this year’s Birmingham Pride in the gay village in Hurst Street.
Throughout the Bank Holiday weekend there will be entertainment, including big-name acts on the main stage, a cabaret marquee, a funfair, village green ‘best in show’ competitions, lots of stalls and beer tents.

Bank Holiday Monday May 25
Lord Mayor’s Show
Offering entertainment for all ages, including seven hours of live musical performances on the main stage.
Other attractions and activities include a funfair, face painting, craft stalls and activities, the Young Readers Book Bash tent, stalls and army displays with assault course and recruitment stand.
There will also be refreshments on sale and even the chance to have tea with the Lord Mayor.
