BIRMINGHAM pupils began arriving home by coach as airlines began clearing the backlog of stranded tourists.
Kids from King Edward VI Handsworth School, Rose Hill Road, returned from a trip to Sorrento, Italy, where they were caught up in the ash cloud travel chaos.
The 26 sixth formers and four staff spent three days travelling home by coach after flights into the UK were grounded.
Kamaljit Mann, from Great Barr, said she was glad daughter Serena, 18, was finally returning home.
Mrs Mann said: “They’ve been travelling three days and stopping in hotels.
“The school has been very good.”
