Two injured in shooting near city pub

TWO people were wounded when a gunman opened fire on them in a Birmingham street.

The victims were hit as they stood near the Crown and Cushion pub, in Wellington Road, Perry Barr, early yesterday. Police said they were alerted following reports of shots being fired.

Officers found the injured pair, who had suffered "minor" gunshot wounds.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said the alarm was raised in the early hours.

Today, as police continued to hunt the gunman, the condition of the victims was not immediately clear and it was not known whether they had been detained in hospital.
