Knifeman in street attack on couple

A MAN was repeatedly stabbed in the back when a knifeman lashed out at him and a woman in a street attack.

Detectives said the double stabbing followed a dispute in Greenhill Road, Handsworth, at 6.30pm yesterday.

The offender pulled out a knife and stabbed his 37-year-old victim five times in the back. He was today in a stable condition in hospital.

A 39-year-old woman received a stab wound to the thigh. She was treated for her injury in hospital and released.

Police said the knifeman and another man both ran from the scene. The area was cordoned off yesterday while forensic searches were carried out.

Detectives at Thornhill Road are investigating and appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them on 0845 113 5000.
