Jerome: We fear no-one now

BLUES' demanding New Year schedule holds no fears for Cameron Jerome.

After Saturday's third round FA Cup tie at Huddersfield Town, Blues travel to Arsenal then entertain Chelsea.

They opened 2008 with a narrow 1-0 defeat at Manchester United.

"We know what we're all about," said the striker.

"We're confident in our ability and in the squad we've got.

"We shouldn't fear any team in the Premier League, it's just 90 minutes of football.

"We've got to Arsenal with the same positive attitude we had at Manchester United, try not to play too defensively or negatively.

"Arsenal and Chelsea, they have got a lot of injury worries and a lot of players away at the African Cup of Nations so we might just catch them at the right time.

"Chelsea are just getting through games at the moment, there's a lot of animosity at that club too.

"Hopefully we can capitalise on that and get results."

Jerome approved of the 4-4-2 approach at Old Trafford, only the third time Blues have started like that away from home this season. Although he explained there was a wrinkle to it, with either him or Garry O'Connor asked to filter back into midfield.

"We went one in the hole and one in behind kind of thing," he said.

"The manager asked us to stop the deep midfielders getting on the ball, do a job defensively and then when we get the ball attack and go forward with purpose.

"He wanted us to use our pace, and get at them, have no fear really.

"We tried to do that as much as we could but obviously they are a great team." ..SUPL:
