Jennifer Ellison at Birmingham's Star City for screening

Jennifer Ellison

FORMER Brookside star Jennifer Ellison popped into the Vue Cinema at Birmingham's Star City last night to introduce a special advance screening of her new 18-rated movie, The Cottage.

But anyone hoping the former National Ballet and Modern Dance Champion would show off her famous curves in an Oscars-style frock was disappointed –after she decided to dress down for the occasion.

In The Cottage, Jennifer is held captive at a remote farmhouse, only for the gang to have the fright of their lives at the hands of a psychopathic farmer.

"As soon as I read the script I thought it was hysterical," said Jennifer. "Tracey was such a fabulous character to play, so different to anything I've ever done before."

Directed by Paul Andrew Williams (London to Brighton), the uncompromising film stars London-born Andy Serkis, who played Gollum/Smeagol in Lord of the Rings and the ape in Peter Jackson's remake of King Kong.

The Cottage will be released on March 14.
