Jordan nets a school of fish

HUNDREDS of primary school children enjoyed a 'splashing' good time on a grand day out - thanks to the Birmingham Mail. All 630 pupils at Yardley Primary School, in Harvey Road, Yardley, were treated to a VIP visit to the National Sea Life Centre, in Brindleyplace, following our competition.

And as well as the Mail, they also had eight-year-old Jordan Edwards to thank for their closeup encounter with hundreds of exotic sea creatures that make up the popular attraction.

Children were invited to enter the newspaper competition by correctly answering three questions about octopuses.

The first prize was a special trip to the Sea Life Centre for the entire school.

Jordan said: "My mum saw a competition in the newspaper.

"I took part and answered three questions about an octopus and won. I am glad I took part and got this really brilliant prize for everyone at school."

Headteacher Jan Moss said the children all enjoyed their visit.

"This was a fantastic opportunity for all 630 of our pupils to visit one of Birmingham's top tourist attractions. Taking the whole school, including staff, made it a very exciting and special event," she said.
