Parents alert for snatchers

A MAN seen acting suspiciously outside a Birmingham primary school sparked a child abduction scare, it was revealed today.

A motorist is understood to have pulled up alongside a young boy in the vicinity of Moseley C of E Primary, in Oxford Road, Moseley.

No attempt was apparently made to either lure or drag the child into the vehicle, but the incident last Thursday was reported by the school to West Midlands Police.

It follows the abduction of a 12-year-old girl near Highclare School, in Sutton New Road, Erdington, on March 3. She was taken on a 25-minute terror ride before managing to escape from the car at Star City, in Nechells.

People in Moseley and Kings Heath area have been alerted to the suspicious incident in Oxford Road by a notice which was put up in the window of a newsagent's.

The notice claimed that a man of Asian appearance tried to encourage a child to get into his car outside Moseley C of E Primary.

A school spokesman confirmed that an incident had taken place involving a car, which was reported to police.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We received a report that a schoolboy had been approached by someone in a car in the Moseley area.

"It was reported as suspicious activity, but we are satisfied that no-one physically tried to abduct the boy or speak to him.

"We also have no description of the car or the man."
