A WOMAN who was found stabbed to death at a flat in Birmingham was today described as "warm and loving" by her heartbroken children.
Dawn Whitehouse, aged 42, was found by police at a friend's flat a short distance from where she lived in Trittiford Road, Billesley.
Her son Dean, aged 24, said: "Everyone loved her, everyone knew her around where she lived, she was well known and she had a heart of gold.
"She would give her last penny to someone if she thought they needed it."
He said his mother, a former carer who lost her leg in a car accident in 1999, used to love visiting her friends and was never happier than when she was socialising.
"She was always out visiting people at their houses and she loved going on days out with her friends. She was amazing, she had more energy than me."
Dean's sister, Carla, aged 21, added: "She loved life and she loved people. If she could help anyone, she would.
"I remember a time when there was a young girl in the neighbourhood who wanted some money for a new pair of trainers and mum just gave her £50. She was so generous, warm and loving."
She said that Dawn, who also had an adopted son, Connor, aged 12, was very close with her mother, Eileen, her brother, Michael, aged 39 and her grandson Mason, aged just eight months.
She also said she devoted a lot of her time to caring for her collie-cross dog Dexter.
Police were called to the flat on Friday after reports of a disturbance.
A 37-year-old man is due to appear in Birmingham Crown Court today charged with her murder.
