Grandad 'doted on his family'

THE grief-stricken family of a dad-of-three stabbed to death in Birmingham today described him as a "decent and genuine family man".

Doting grandfather Christopher Anderson, 50, was fatally wounded at a property in Coley's Lane, West Heath, on Sunday evening.

Paramedics arrived at 5pm, but were unable to save Mr Anderson, who was pronounced dead at the house, a few hundred yards from his home in the same road where he lived with his wife of more than 30 years, Phyllis.

A 52-year-old man was arrested at the scene and later charged with murder.

The two men are believed to have known one another and lived on the same road.

Today, his family paid tribute to Mr Anderson.

In a statement issued through police, they said: "Chris was a decent and genuine man.

"He was a loving husband to Phyllis for 30 years and he lived for his family.

"Chris had three sons and three grandchildren, whom he doted on.

"Phyllis would like to thank people for their flowers and kind words, however she requests that the family is given privacy at this sad time."

The circumstances leading up to Mr Anderson's death were still being investigated, said Det Insp Richard Mayhew, of Bournville Lane CID on Tuesday.

A post-mortem examination revealed Mr Anderson died as the result of stab injuries.

A marked police car was stationed outside a bungalow on Coley's Lane following the incident.
