Maxine gets a lucky break

Maxine Bracey

REGULAR Birmingham Mail reader Maxine Bracey is looking forward to some guaranteed sunshine this summer.

And she is fully confident of arriving home in Rubery with a suntan after landing £1,000 in the Mail's Money Mania competition.

Mother-of-two Maxine, aged 37, made it third time lucky when she scooped the prize on the final day of the Mail's money-spinning promotion.

She is hoping her good fortune will aid her efforts to find a job after qualifying as a hairdresser from Bournville College in July last year.

But first, Maxine's thoughts are turning to a well-deserved summer holiday after spending the last three years at Bournville studying for her hairdressing qualification.

It will be a welcome trip too for son Tony, aged 17, who also enrolled at Bournville College where he is studying construction, and daughter Rebekah, aged 14, a pupil at Waseley Hills High in Rubery.

Maxine said of her £1,000 win: " I am just getting over it.

"I get the paper every day and had a go at the competition the other day, so I was really pleased when I was told I'd won.

"This money will mean I can give the children a holiday this summer, hopefully abroad.

"It's been difficult to save while I've been at college.

"I was bringing up my two children so wasn't really able to get the qualifications I needed. But, after going to Bournville College for three years, I finally became a qualified hairdresser last July.

"I am now looking for a job, so hopefully this win will bring me some luck and I can become a hairdresser somewhere."
