Four-year-old boy dies after car crash

A BOY of four has died in hospital after being fatally injured in a car crash in Birmingham, it emerged this afternoon.

The youngster was admitted to hospital around midday on Saturday but doctors could not save him.

Police believe the child, who has not yet been named, was involved in a collision with a car.

A police spokesman said their initial investigations led officers to believe the youngster may have been injured on Weatherfield Road, Tyseley.

A 36-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the incident and has been bailed pending further inquiries.

A police spokesman said: "West Midlands Police are appealing for information after a four-year-old boy died following an incident in the Tyseley area of Birmingham on Saturday.

"Officers were called after the boy was admitted to hospital around midday on Saturday.

"Initial inquiries led officers to believe the child had been in collision with a car."
