Pupils enjoy taste of movie glamour

Pupils from Kingsbury School, Erdington

LIGHTS, camera, action! Aspiring film directors of the future enjoyed their first experience of Hollywood-style glamour at their Birmingham school.

More than 30 15 and 16 year olds from Kingsbury School and Sports College, in Erdington, dressed up to the nines and rolled up in a Hummer to show family and friends movies they had made.

Organiser Polly Allen, a school learning assistant, said she was proud of the teenagers' efforts.

"When they were making the films they had to work as part of a team and take on responsibility," she said.

"Some of them had low self-esteem and I'm proud of what they have done."

A total of six films were premiered.

They included Mayhem at the Disco, about a young lothario who dated three girls at the same time.

Among the others were a thriller called Death House and another called Meet the Grim, about an unexpected guest at a house party.
