Thieves swap diamonds for box of sweets

POLICE are hunting a Russian man and a woman after thieves swapped diamonds worth £160,000 for a box of sweets during at raid at a Birmingham shop.

They said the couple had ordered diamonds from the shop in Spencer Street on March 5.

When they returned to pay for them two days later, they distracted the owner and swapped a second box of diamonds for a box of sweets before leaving the shop.

Police today released pictures of the couple they want to speak to in connection with the theft.

They named the man they want to interview as Ansor Megrelishvili, aged 66.
