MEXICO flight passengers Christopher and Melissa Douglas, from Leicester, returned to Birmingham Airport today from a two-week resort holiday.
Mr Douglas said: “We were in a hotel complex which we didn’t leave, then all of a sudden a number of the chefs were wearing masks.”
Stephen Taylor and fiancée Rebecca Wadley from Mansfield, were in a resort three hours from Mexico City.
Mr Taylor, 48, said: “A few people were wearing masks at the airport but no one seemed particularly worried.”
Ms Wadley added: “We feel fine but we will be finding out more about the symptoms just in case.”
Hannah Giddings, from Peterborough, said: “We didn’t know anything about it until we got on the plane.
“If I had known 80 people had died I would have wanted to be on the next plane out of the country.”
Chrissie Walker, who had returned from Hong Kong, believed authorities there were taking more precautions. She said: “I just coughed in the airport and I was stopped and given a spot check.”
