Bus crime at a four year low

BUS crime in the region is at a four-year low according to city transport chiefs. Figures show that offences fell by 14 per cent in the past 12 months according to the Safer Travel Task Force.

Head of the Safer Travel Police Team Insp Cate Webb-Jones said: “We will continue to work hard to build on this success and reduce crime still further both on board buses and at stops and shelters. This will require us to continue to work closely with our partners and to act on the intelligence provided to us by bus operators and, crucially, the travelling public.”

The Safer Travel Team is a partnership between West Midlands Police, Safer Birmingham Partnership and the passenger transport authority Centro.
