Aston Villa icon Doug Ellis pays tribute to Birmingham City's Karren Brady

FORMER Aston Villa chairman Doug Ellis put city rivalries aside today to pay tribute to Karren Brady after she announced the end of her 17-year stint at Blues.

Ellis said she had been a tremendous ambassador for the club under the ownership of David Sullivan and the Gold brothers.

“I’ve a great deal of respect for her business acumen and what she has done for the club,” he said.

“I used to sit next to her in FA meetings and got to know her well.
