QUEEN of soul Beverley Knight has reassured her fans she is fine after breaking down in tears on stage in Birmingham.
Beverley, 36, from Wolverhampton, wept at Symphony Hall on Monday as she paid a warm tribute to the support of her family throughout undisclosed personal difficulties.
In yesterday’s Birmingham Mail review of the concert it was revealed that on the microblogging site Twitter the star had spoken of her problems, writing: “Got a bit of a personal crisis going on.”
A spokeswoman for the singer told the Mail the MOBO-winning star had loved the show and was feeling positive and upbeat about the future.
There was concern for Beverely after her tearful state before a performance of her song Gold, which she announced by saying: “This goes out to my fantastic family who are the greatest network of support.”
Beverley, who repeatedly wiped her tears with a towel, added: “I know my make-up’s running. Just ignore it!”
With her mother Dolores, brother, sister and other family members in the audience, the singer struggled to control her emotions before composing herself and completing a stunning show.
Beverley’s spokeswoman said she did not wish to discuss her personal life and had been “caught up in the moment” at Symphony Hall.
The spokeswoman said: “She doesn’t want to talk about this. It is a private matter.
“She loved the gig and is feeling very positive.
“It isn’t unusual for her get emotional at her shows as she puts her heart and soul into them. If someone was along at the gig and was concerned she would like everyone to know she is okay.
“She has had a few private things going on but she is absolutely fine.”
Beverley’s Birmingham show was the penultimate in her UK tour to promote her new album 100%. She is also performing a show at the Royal Albert Hall next April.
