A HOTELIER whose brother was murdered by a former aide of the Royal family today told of his relief that she has been found before fleeing the country.
Jane Andrews was tracked down by police early today after two days on the run after she disappeared from East Sutton Park open prison.
Andrews was jailed for life for stabbing Tom Cressman to death in a frenzied attack in 2000 after he refused to marry her.
Kent Police said: “Police have located missing person Jane Andrews safe and well and she has been taken into police custody.
“She was found in the Maidstone area in the early hours of this morning.” The force did not give out any further details of how she came to be found. Andrews was moved to East Sutton Park prison on November 18 and took a paracetamol overdose last week for which she needed hospital treatment.
The victim’s family has previously campaigned against Andrews being moved to an open prison.
Brother Rick Cressman, owner of Nailcote Hall, in Berkswell, near Solihull, said today: “I am relieved she has been found. We were extremely concerned that with the prison down in Maidstone she could hop on a ferry or train to Europe. I thought she would be well out of the country by now so I am extremely relieved.
“I just hope that the authorities wake up to her manipulative ways and I hope they actually treat her as a prisoner who has committed premediated murder.
“I expressed the opinion months ago that she should not have been in an open prison after eight and a half years in the first place. It’s a total insult to my brother Tommy’s memory.” Mr Cressman, aged 58, said Andews, had never shown any remorse for killing his 39-year old brother.
He added: “She is self-seeking, she wants attention and gets it. She is not vulnerable, she is calculated.
“She is clever at manipulating people, she gives all the right signs to enable her to improve her position in the prison pecking order. They have fallen for vulnerable lady, ex Royal family employee bit and given her far too much trust and belief. She can’t be trusted, she has lied, cheated and killed.”
Andrews, who worked for the Duchess of York for nine years until 1997, was convicted in 2001 of murder and ordered to serve a minimum of 12 years in jail.
