A QUINTON man has appeared in court and admitted to taking 3,228 pornographic pictures and movies of children.

Over 1,000 of the images Peter Bardell made were of the most extreme kind in terms of the sex and violence involving children they portrayed.

Bardell, 32, of Wisley Way, pleaded guilty to nine charges of taking indecent pictures or moving images of children and one charge of possession of extreme child pornography in a movie.

Birmingham crown court heard yesterday how three of the charges related to the less serious level one child porn, one was level two, two were level three, two were level four and one was the most serious level five.

All the allegations relate to a period over three years between November 2006 and March 2009.

Bardell was released on unconditional bail for pre-sentence reports to be prepared.

His case was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
