Birmingham teacher had porn on his school laptop

The hearing committee panel, chaired by Liz Carter, ruled that it did, but only issued a reprimand – the most lenient of the four sanctions available.

The reprimand, which details why his actions amounted to unacceptable professional conduct, may be taken into consideration in future disciplinary hearings and will stay on the GTC register for two years.

Mrs Carter said: “Recordo Gordon broke the code of conduct and practice and brought the profession into serious disrepute.

“His actions fell short of a standard expected of a registered teacher and the propriety expected in the profession.”

The pornographic files, downloaded from a string of adult sites, were stored on the school’s laptop between September 2007 and April 2008.

Gordon resigned after the material was found by David Tichener, ICT manager at Broadway School, who immediately passed the computer to the school’s head teacher.

Mr Tichener told the hearing there was nothing to stop Gordon viewing the filthy footage in school as long as it had previously been downloaded and stored externally.
