Confusion for Birmingham tenants claims Labour city councillor

RADICAL changes to Birmingham’s neighbourhood offices are being steamrollered through – leaving tenants confused about how to get advice about council services, it has been claimed.

Labour city councillor Mike Leddy said attempts to speed up appointments with city officials meant that some people were being told they could be seen quickly, but only if they were prepared to go to offices a considerable distance from where they lived.

They were unfamiliar with the location and bus routes and in some cases failed to turn up, he added.

Coun Leddy (Lab, Brandwood) told the council cabinet: “We are being told that 94 per cent of customers are being seen within five working days, yet last week someone tried to get an appointment at Yardley Wood only to be told they could not be seen until October 15.
