Birmingham man picked as new Milkybar Kid caught up in drugs gaffe

HE’S been a children’s favourite for almost 50 years – but now the Milkybar Kid is locked in a drugs furore thanks to the Birmingham man picked as one of his latest incarnations.

Chris Beebee, 27 from Castle Bromwich, Birmingham, who is one of the new faces of Milkybar for a set of adverts at New Street Station.

Chris Beebee blundered into trouble on his very first public appearance as the iconic character – by making a rash remark about “all the drugs I used to take”.

The red-faced 27-year-old, from Castle Bromwich, immediately insisted he had only been joking and insisted: “It’s been taken the wrong way.”

The gaffe came as Chris attended a photoshoot after being picked as one of four new Milkybar Kids for chocolate giant Nestle’s “ungrow up” ad campaign.

After the shoot, he joked: “I was in the Monster Raving Loony Party as the Minister of Haddock. That will be all the drugs I used to take.”
