A MAN who was rescued from his burning home and then burgled while in hospital has died from a heart attack.
Colin Bryan’s devastated family said the tragic last five months of his life had finally taken their toll on the 67-year-old, from Northfield.
They said the retired baker, also known as John Bryan, longed to return to his warden-controlled home in Bangham Pit Road, but was unable to do so as it was left boarded up following the blaze in July.
Immediately after the fire Colin was put up in a B&B on the other side of the city from his family and went missing for two days.
He was then moved to a new flat in Roundlea Road, Northfield, but that property was burgled while he was in hospital. He was rescued by heroic passers-by when the bungalow went up in flames in July.
He lost all his belongings in the fire.
And then when he went into hospital for a stomach condition last month burglars ransacked his new flat, taking his TV and laptop.
The raid left him terrified to return, but he eventually did on Monday last week.
His sister Patricia said he died at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Sunday.
