Birmingham City fans' delight after Carling Cup semi-final win - with video

Birmingham City fans were jubilant as they came out of St Andrew’s – with all saying “Wembley – here we come!”

A blue and white stream of delighted people were jumping for joy after getting through to the club’s first major Wembley final for 55 years.

Painter and decorator Peter Millington, 46, from Droitwich, said: “Words can’t describe how happy I am.

“I didn’t think we’d do it and nearly left at the end of the first half, but glad I didn’t.”

Friends Sarah Donegal, 20, a shop assistant, and trainee dental nurse, Nikki Turner, 21, from Chelmsley Wood, said: “We’ve only been following the Blues for a year and can’t believe they’ve got to the finals of a Cup competition – it’s definitely our influence!” Sarah said.

Graham Bovington, 54, from Sheldon, was there with his step-son Paul Gardiner, 28. Graham, an unemployed insurance salesman, said: “What a fantastic match. My heart was in my mouth for the second half and I was a nervous wreck during extra time!”

Paul added: “Tomorrow I’m going online and booking my ticket for Wembley.”

David Swingler, 60, from Bordesley Green, said: “Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. I thougth when we went to Cardiff and we first came up was brilliant, but it was nothing compared to this. My emotions were all over the place.” John Jervani, 44, from Sutton, said: “I thought the Blues were very poor in the first half but a total different team in the second half.
