A PILE of bags containing clinical waste were left on a Birmingham street for more than a week, angry residents claimed.
Families said they were furious that the sacks, thought to contain incontinence pads, had not been collected – and feared they could be opened by children.
They said that up to 30 yellow clinical waste bags had lain outside a house in Quayside, Hockley, since at least January 25.
Resident Dick Empson said: “I first noticed them a week last Tuesday but they could well have been there before that.
“They completely block the pavement and contain what looks like incontinence pads, although I haven’t opened the bags to have a proper look.”
He said the normal waste collection day for the road was Wednesday and there had been two collections since then but binmen had simply driving past the pile, leaving it untouched.
Mr Empson said he believed the bags had either been put out by a resident by arrangement with the city council or had been fly-tipped.
