IT’S the £1.9 million road to nowhere.

That’s the cost of a slip road at the NEC which has never been used by a single vehicle.

The road was finished last July and was designed to ease traffic when big shows such as this week’s Crufts are staged.

But it has yet to open with Solihull Council waiting for signs to be delivered from Germany.

Judi Turner, who works for a financial services company on the business park on the NEC site, said: “We sit in our cars at the island for half an hour when we leave and the big shows are on because the traffic is so bad.

“It took two years to build this new road and we couldn’t wait for it to open.

“But we’ve been waiting and it is still closed.”
