Longbridge couple in the frame for a dream wedding

Laura Hancox and James Mann

LEAFING through wedding magazines Laura Hancox could only dream of the big day she was supposed to have been planning.

Instead of choosing her dress and booking the venue, the 26-year-old from Longbridge was undergoing intensive chemotherapy at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Her plans to marry fiancé James Mann in 2012 were put on hold after she was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma last May.

The devastating news also followed the couple losing their jobs in January and Laura suffering a miscarriage in February.

Then in October last year, former temp Laura was rushed into intensive care with septicemia and almost died.

Now in remission, Laura stands the chance to win the happy ending she thought might never come. If the pair get enough votes in a competition organised by Hobgoblin they could marry the same day as Prince William and Kate Middleton.

“I’m just looking at life with a new set of eyes,” she said. “We’ve been through in one year last year what couples might in ten years’ of marriage.”

James described the moment Laura told him she had cancer.
