SECURITY guards at Birmingham’s Heartlands Hospital are being denied up to FOUR years’ back-payments after bosses reneged on holiday arrears, it is claimed.
Dozens of staff on the payroll of APCOA UK are threatening strike action in a bitter dispute over enhancement payments covering shift and weekend working going back to October 2006, it was revealed today.
Workers and union leaders say staff are owed the cash for sickness and shift entitlements normally guaranteed under their contracts for holiday pay – and are furious that APCOA UK have said they will receive payments backdated only to 2010.
A guard, who asked not to be named, said: “They are robbing us of over four years’ money.
“They have told us that we were owed money going back to 2006 but they are only going to pay us from 2010.
“We are talking potentially about losing thousands of pounds here. They have said that each individual worker has to put in writing what they are owed for anti-social hours.”
