Four Midland WAGs continued their Great Wall of China adventure by conquering one of its most historic and remote outposts in aid of the Meningitis Trust. It was a milestone moment as Birmingham City wives Becky Doyle, Melissa Derbyshire, Paula Parnaby and Leicester City WAG Hayley Gallagher reached the end of day four – leaving just one day to go. IT MAY sound cheesy but climbing to the top of the famous Heavenly Ladder on this amazing man-made Wonder of the World evoked a lot of emotion for the WAGs.

As we reached the top of the moutainside at a steep 80-degree gradient, we felt humbled by the courage of our diverse band of travelling companions.

From a 57-year-old woman in our group, walking in memory of her husband, to a 32-year-old man given a ten per cent chance of survival after a car crash, this was a moment to feel grateful about what we all have.

Paula became tearful as she reached the top of the wall.

She said: “It reminded me of what we are here for. Sometimes we forget because we are so busy concentrating on the trek.”
