MOST new fathers would buy their partner flowers and maybe a box of chocolates for Mother’s Day.
But superdad Michael Kplomedo went one better and delivered his bouncing baby daughter on the living room floor of his Birmingham home.
Amy Louise came into the world ten days early, catching her mum Louise Pitt and dad Michael by surprise.
Louise, aged 31, a police civilian worker, woke up just before 1am yesterday with contractions and shortly afterwards her waters broke.
Michael took her to Heartlands Hospital but were sent away because Louise was not fully ready to give birth – but within an hour of getting back home she went into labour.
Louise said: “We rang for an ambulance but by now the baby’s head was showing so the operator told Michael he was going to have to do the delivery and talked him through it.”
Michael, aged 30, a personal trainer who is now an NVQ assessor for the fitness industry, said he had to balance his mobile phone between his neck and shoulder as he needed both hands to deliver his daughter.
“The operator was telling me what to do and when I saw the baby’s head I thought, ‘right here we go, let’s do it’,” he said.
