RAC man released by police after Hall Green death crash

AN RAC patrol driver involved in a road accident in which a woman died has been released on bail by police.

The 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after the collision in Hall Green on Wednesday tea-time.

A woman aged 22, who was a pillion passenger on a motorbike, died at the scene. The motorcyclist, a man aged 30, was taken to hospital and his condition has been described as serious but not life threatening.

The RAC confirmed one of its breakdown vans was involved.

Police yesterday released the RAC man, who lives in Hall Green, on bail pending further inquiries.

The identity of the woman passenger has not yet been released at the request of her family. Shopkeepers close to where the accident happened at the junction of Cubley Road and Stratford Road tied bunches of floral tributes onto a lamppost and fence.
