ALEX McLeish finally received support from sections of the Villa faithful who created an internet group backing his imminent Second City switch.

The Facebook group ‘Support McLeish, Support Aston Villa’, has not attracted anywhere near as many members as those opposed to his forthcoming appointment but shows there are Villans willing to give him a chance.

“If people are truly Villa supporters, then they will unite behind the team whoever the manager,” the group’s administrator wrote shortly after launching the page on Wednesday afternoon.

His perspective was shared by many other Villa supporters who commented in favour of the group.

JoJo Villa Donovan said: “I admire McLeish for having the balls to take the Villa job on!

“I say get behind him, it might just work.”

Billie Donnelly wrote: “Would prefer others but still a good manager no matter what the other fickle fans say! Get behind our club and give the man a chance!”
