Oldbury cat cheats death by skin of her teeth

A KITTEN used up one of its nine lives when it plunged from the 12th floor of a Midland tower block – and broke only a tooth.

The moggy, which was named Everest by RSPCA staff at Birmingham Animal Hospital, was found in extreme shock and bleeding from the mouth.

Despite apparently not having a cat in hell’s chance of surviving the fall of more than 120 feet, Everest is back on her kitten heels with barely a scratch.

RSPCA inspectors were unsure whether the female tabby and white kitten was pushed or fell from Hackwood House in Hartlebury Road, Oldbury, on June 5.

One kind resident, who alerted the RSPCA, saw the moggy bounce off their third floor window during its fall to the ground.

RSPCA animal welfare officer Susie Bailey said Everest stunned vets by suffering only a tooth fracture.

“When I collected the cat she was in a lot of pain and was petrified,” said Susie.

“Because of the distance she fell, added to the fact she couldn’t stand, I feared she might not survive.
