Birmingham finance whizz-kid's £2m trail of heartbreak

Gary Hexley

A DISGRACED finance whizzkid has left a £2 million plus trail of heartbreak and misery across the UK – landing scores of investors with huge losses.

Gary Hexley lived the high life with luxury properties in Sutton Coldfield, Spain and Cyprus, but his clients which include many retired and elderly people, have been left facing losses of up to £80,000.

Hexley’s empire crumbled to dust in September last year when his Birmingham-based firm Greenfield International collapsed into liquidation to the horror of investors who had entrusted him with thousands of pounds.

Hexley had been declared bankrupt just months beforehand with total liabilities of £979,820. The subsequent collapse of Greenfield, a property development company, left a total of 237 creditors, many in the West Midlands, with total debts of £2,077,426.05.

The troubled financier has now been censured and banned by the Financial Services Authority for providing unsuitable investment advice.
