DETECTIVES were today continuing to question a man over the murders of three men killed when they were struck by a car as they protected the Winson Green community from looters.
The 30-year-old man, the seventh to be arrested over the incident, was held at 10am yesterday on suspicion of the murders of the three pals in Winson Green.
Haroon Jahan, 21, and brothers Shazad Ali, 30, and Abdul Musavir, 31, were hit by a car in the early hours of last Wednesday during riots in Birmingham.
They were all pronounced dead in hospital.
“The 30-year-old will continue to be questioned by officers investigating the incident today,” a West Midlands Police spokesman said.
Three men have already appeared in court charged with the murder of the three men.
Joshua Donald, 26, Adam King, 23, and a 17-year-old, who cannot be named, appeared before a judge at Birmingham Crown Court for a preliminary hearing yesterday.
Donald, of Kelsall Croft, Ladywood, and the youth, from Edgbaston, appeared by video-link.
King, of no fixed address, was in the dock.
All three defendants are charged with three counts of murder.

The public gallery in the courtroom was full for the short hearing.
All three defendants were remanded into custody to appear at the same court for a plea and case management hearing on December 9.
Meanwhile, three other men, aged 17, 23 and 26, who were arrested in connection with the incident, have been released on bail pending further inquiries.
