THE grieving father of brave Midland teen Laura Greenway has told of his gratitude to big-hearted Brummies who offered to help him to fulfil her dying wish to be buried in the city.

Laura, of Kingshurst, lost her battle against a rare terminal illness earlier this month.

The Birmingham Mail reported that the 18-year-old had spent four years meticulously planning her funeral and her most cherished wish to be buried at Brandwood End cemetery.

But Birmingham City Council said it was full.

Peter, 46, said the story provoked a heartfelt response from readers with one kind-hearted city resident offering to have her grandfather’s body exhumed from a plot at the cemetery so Laura could be buried there.

Another resident, Jill Gambardella, was prepared to transfer ownership of a vacant burial plot to the Greenway family.

Peter said: “The response from the public has just gobsmacked me really.

“It was a wonderful gesture (from Jill) to be fair.
