HUNDREDS of Brummies are being sought to join a multi-billion pound industry and strike gold with a new life in Australia.
City families are being invited to move to Oz and become gold miners, helping an industry worth more than £7.5 billion.
The job will involve digging and learning the ropes of mining for gold in Georgetown, Queensland, with full training from expats.
The sleepy outback town, which has a population of just 320, is on the Etheridge River – the site of a gold rush in the 1870s.
Australia is the world’s second largest producer of gold with around 100,000 working in the industry, meaning plenty of opportunities for people in Birmingham.
John Weir, director of Evolve Digital Publishing, which is making the show, said: “With Australia’s unemployment rate half that of the West Midlands, it is quite an attractive proposition.
“We are giving people the opportunity to come and hear about a new life gold mining in Australia. The dream of a new life in Australia will soon become more of a reality for hundreds of Brummies.”
