Luxury Harborne homes plan halted by trees

Ann Levitt

PLANS to build luxury houses in a wealthy Birmingham suburb have been halted by council chiefs due to concerns over trees.

Harborne Parish Lands Charity wants to build five detached family homes in a new cul-de-sac on land off Milford Road in Harborne.

But the development will involve chopping down 14 trees which are protected by Tree Preservation Orders (TPO).

Councillors on the planning committee have adjourned making a decision on it until they have visited the site.

The houses will be on land which was previously the garden of Dore House, a large Victorian property, on Lordswood Road.

Each house will be three storeys high with each of the houses five bedrooms having its own en suite bathroom.
