TRIBUTES have been paid to a “beautiful” Birmingham schoolgirl killed in a horrific rush-hour collision with a lorry.
The tragic 13-year-old, named locally as Hope Fennell, became trapped under the wheels of the lorry after she attempted to cross the busy High Street in Kings Heath on her bike, witnesses said.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, firefighters and passers-by, the Queensbridge School pupil was pronounced dead at the scene.
Floral tributes have been left close to where the accident happened, shortly after 5pm on Monday, while dozens of distraught classmates and friends visited the spot.
Among them was Ava Langham, 14, and 13-year-old Tani Hendrickson, who both went to Kings Heath Primary School with Hope.
Tani said: “We are all very upset.
“I saw her last week and obviously had no idea that was the last time I would see her.”
“She was very kind and would always smile at you,” said Ava.
“She was very different to anyone else – a real character.”
