BIRMINGHAM’S first new swimming pool for more than 20 years is to create 60 new jobs.

Recruiting starts todayfor staff to work at Harborne Pool and Fitness Centre, which is due to open on January 3.

The jobs are part-time and full-time and include cleaners, lifeguards, receptionists, personal trainers and fitness instructors.

The centre in Lordswood Road needs around 80 staff to operate but at the moment only has the 18 who worked at the original baths and moved over.

Adverts are being placed in the Birmingham Mail and Job Centres in the coming days as managers begin the frantic search for staff so they can open on time.
