A TEENAGER has been charged after a laser was shone at the West Midlands Police helicopter.

The Wolverhampton 18-year-old, who has not been named, is due before city magistrates on January 18.

He is on bail having been charged with recklessly/negligently acting in a manner likely to endanger an aircraft/person in an aircraft

The laser attack on the force helicopter happened on Sunday morning.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “The aircraft has sophisticated technology that can pinpoint anyone shining a laser pen into the sky so offenders can expect police patrols very quickly.”
