Your Communities: Events in Bournville, Edgbaston, Sutton Coldfield, Solihull, Cannock

HERE is a selection of the latest news and information from Your Communities, the Birmingham Mail's section devoted to information and pictures from across the region.

We have 34 sections covering Birmingham, Solihull and parts of Staffordshire and today's updates are for events in Bournville, Edgbaston, Sutton Coldfield, Solihull South and Cannock.

BOURNVILLE

Three workshops will be held at Stirchley recreation ground behind Bond Street to discuss how to improve access to the park and to raise its profile.

Despite having three entrances, the park does not entertain large numbers of regular visitors, with many people in the area not even aware it exists.

Place Prospectors hopes the workshops, which it is organising as part of its Stirchley Prospects project, will allow residents to share memories of the park and ideas on how to make it friendlier, more welcoming and more well known.

The discussions will take place from 11am to 1pm every fortnight starting on Sunday (15).

EDGBASTON

Early discussions have taken place on how to distribute £34,000 among community groups in Edgbaston ward over the next four years.

Grants of between £250 and £2,500, made available through the Government’s Community First Group scheme, will be handed out to community groups to deliver projects which meet the needs of the area as set out in the Edgbaston Ward Plan.

The Ward Plan is being drafted by Edgbaston’s Community First Group, chaired by Edgbaston Councillor James Hutchings, in consultation with the group’s designated Panel Partner – the Birmingham South West Residents’ Group.

Once the plan is completed, community groups in Edgbaston will be able to apply for funding.

Regular updates on how the plan is shaping up will be posted at deirdrealden.wordpress.com
