Stop smoking message for Walsall roadshow

MORE than 20 per cent of adults in Walsall smoke, but new research has revealed that a third of them would like to kick the habit.

So Walsall Council is urging them to take up the Great No Smoking Day Challenge and stop smoking on March 12.

Officers at Walsall Council's Smoke Free Team have organised a roadshow to mark No Smoking Day at The Bridge in Walsall Town Centre from 10am until 3pm.

The team will be on hand to give advice and information to anyone wishing to kick the habit.

Now in its 25th year, 'No Smoking Day' is challenging smokers to quit for a week and take the opportunity to find out about help and support available for when they are ready to stop smoking.

Coun Barbara McCracken, health spokeswoman for Walsall, said: "More than 20 per cent of adults in Walsall smoke and research shows two thirds of them would like to stop. No Smoking Day provides an excellent opportunity for them to do that."
